Block Direct Formatting in Microsoft Word

How to stop users to use direct formatting in Microsoft Word? I created a style template and I don't want others to use direct formatting on top of my styles.

If you have created a nice style template for your company and want others to use it and follow those styles. You can follow these steps to block direct formatting in your template.

1. Open your template.

2. Click Home > More style icon. You see "Apply Styles" box.

3. Click "Styles" icon. You see a list of styles.

4. Click "Manage Styles" icon. You see "Manage Styles" box.

5. Click "Restrict" tab and check "Limit formatting to permitted styles" check box.

Microsoft Word - Block Direct Formatting

6. Click "OK". Then enter a password to protect this restriction.

From now on, anyone uses this template will not be able do direct formatting, without using styles.
