Halloween is shorthand of All Hallows’ Evening, which is the eve of All Hallows' Day, or All Saints' Day. Halloween is celebrated on October 31, since All Saints' Day is celebrated on on November 1.
Halloween celebration activities include trick-or-treating, attending Halloween costume parties, decorating, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, fortune-telling games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories and watching horror films.
